Organisation
Over time, Paradevs have been known to specialize in certain aspects of the game. For instance, Anna has worked extensively on the genetics of Paralives (possibly due to her past experience in bioinformatics[10]), and is usually the go-to person when a Patreon post is written about it, or in Dev Chats. Similarly, Chloé is the team member who posts updates and answers questions about the Town.
Additionally, in large part because of the small size of the team, Paradevs can take on tasks that go slightly outside of their official role, such as Alejandro taking part in some Paratreon livestreams for instance. Lastly, Paradevs are also free to work on side projects of their choosing for the annual Hackweek.
In a job posting published in 2025, it is stated that employees of Paralives Studio follow a 35hrs work week (paid 40hrs), have paid sick days, and enjoy 5 weeks of vacation per year, 2 of which are for the winter holidays.[11]
Office
In the early stages of development, Paradevs were working from home on the game. The situation lasted longer than initially projected because of the COVID 19 pandemic, which forced everyone to continue working remotely ; this also prevented Léa from moving from France to Canada to join the team physically.[12]
In September 2021, all Paradevs moved into their new office[13], located near the Lionel-Groulx subway station in Montréal, Canada. However, Paradevs are only required to be at the Paralives Studio office one day a week, and can choose how to balance in-office presence and work from home the rest of the time.[11]
Occasionally, some photos have been the occasion to showcase parts of this office (including the one at the top of the present page). Paradevs have also created their "dream office", showcased in a Patreon post as well as a public video to demonstrate the potential of the Build Mode.[14]
Finances

Paralives Studio relies exclusively on Patreon for funding ; over the years, contribution milestones have regularly conditioned when a new team member is hired.
Salaries are set according to that funding, and disclosed to other employees ; there are also yearly raises and employees have shares in the future sales of the game :[11]
Which translates as :
At Paralives, for the sake of transparency between the team members, salaries are open and fixed according to the amount of years of fulltime experience. Internships and part time jobs can partially count towards experience if they are in a field directly linked to the post. Your salary will increase every year according to this wage scale.
Employee wellbeing
In early 2022, Weekly Dev Chats started to systematically include questions about the Paradevs' personal preferences, recent life events, as well as their wellbeing. Patrons regularly asked about how team members were doing, what they had accomplished (personally or professionally) in the past week, what their favorite hobbies or activities were, and other similar questions. As these Dev Chats were made public a few weeks later, so were often answers about the Paradevs' wellbeing, including at work.[15]
After the Early Access release was delayed in November 2025, several Paralives Studio employees stated in a Dev Chat that they had, seemingly on their own accord, crunched in the weeks leading up to the planned December 8, 2025 release. Andrei, for instance, revealed that he had overworked himself and was relieved that the team would have 6 more months to work on improving the game and fixing bugs ; meanwhile Chloé admitted that she had initially made no plans for the holidays, predicting to "burn out" after the release in Early Access, and similarly Gab had cancelled all their plans and was now looking forward to planning something last minute with their family for the winter holidays. The general sentiment seemed to point toward a general state of stress and potentially exhaustion, which the announced delay seemed to relieve.[16] These statements seem to indicate that although there doesn't appear to usually be a culture of crunch, Paralives Studio employees still are sometimes at risk, and occasionally work to the detriment of their mental and/or physical wellbeing.
With the end of Dev Chats in late 2025, there are no longer weekly appointments for the community to ask about, and acknowledge, the ups and downs of the Paradevs' wellbeing.
